The Scherer Institute of Natural Healing is an oasis in the beautiful high desert of Northern New Mexico. We have been training people from around the world in professional massage for almost three decades in Santa Fe, a community historically steeped in the healing arts.
Our massage therapy programs are supportive and challenging on all levels. We integrate the intuitive and the rational, and we strive to bridge holistic and allopathic medical perspectives. How did this unique tradition begin? Dr. Jay Scherer established the Institute in 1979, one of the very first independent massage therapy schools in the country. Dr. Jay was well loved and respected as a naturopath and massage therapist in Santa Fe for over 40 years. His compassion for those in pain or need was boundless, and he never turned anyone away. He deeply believed in the power of the body and spirit to direct the healing process. His legacy lives on in every graduate who shares the gift of healing touch with others.
As you learn to touch others with awareness and skill, you will experience how "it is an honor to touch another human being." Time and again we receive feedback from clients, graduates and prospective students that a massage from a Scherer graduate is a uniquely powerful and healing experience.
